Family Cruises: Kid Friendly Cruises

Find out about my favorite places, hotels, tours and more by clicking here. In 2023 the Celebrity Edge is in the Caribbean through April for night sailings (with several different itineraries). Unfortunately, this option was not particularly well advertised. There was a note about it in one of the daily newsletters early in the trip. Part of our group would have loved that option but didn’t learn about it until too late.

Celebrity Edge Review: Summary

Hopefully, this carries over to the Caribbean sailings. Candyce H. Stapen is an award-winning travel journalist, author, and family travel expert. As USA TODAY’s travel editor/producer, Candyce launched the company’s digital travel sites.

You’ll Never Want To Vacation Any Other Way

Last-minute cruises are great for families who have a sense of adventure without wanting to wait months to start their vacation. From Bahamas cruises from Florida to the year-round tropics of the Caribbean, booking last minute can equal some seriously exciting cruise deals. Basic Wi-Fi is included in the fare which you can use on two devices, and we found it did not drop once throughout our cruise. You can upgrade to a premium package if you want to stream movies, for example.

As Page Six revealed last year, Suri is estranged from her famous father and the pair have no relationship.

If you kept the window portion of the balcony closed most of the time, it would seem like the balcony portion of the room was part of the regular living space. But, when you are “on the balcony” you aren’t actually outside. It’s more like being in a sunroom with a large picture window.

Terrific New Approach To Main Dining Room

The basic story line is that four chefs (one for each course) are competing to make the best dish, but the fun is in watching each chef create your dish – right before the real version comes out. It really was fun, and the animation is gorgeous and creative. I have been cruising since 2004 and have sailed on dozens of cruises all over the world. As the creator of this website, I want to help families plan fun cruises free of stress and filled with adventure!

And, it hosts various entertainment acts and performances, including aerialists, many of which are interactive. The Rooftop Garden is a large open-air park-like area at the top of the ship that features an array of metal sculptures, living plants, and comfortable seating. It features oversized games such as Jenga and chess, and other lawn games and puzzles. It plays host to a variety of activities throughout the day and evening. Including organized hosted tournaments, movies and music, and dancing.

Over a 7 or 10-day cruise, I’d love constantly finding new places to relax and read. And I went up to the top deck both mornings to watch the sunrise, but both days the sun was in the same direction relative to the front of the ship. I’d love to be able to see the sunrise (and sunsets) from different spots. The embarkation area on port days was spacious and well organized. While there were often long lines when returning to ship, as expected, the process was extremely quick and efficient.

Additionally, we offer a number of autism-friendly services including priority check-in and boarding. Our cruises offer unforgettable experiences for kids of all ages. With fun games, outdoor activities, video game tournaments, and slumber parties all on the agenda, your kids will have the time of their life during their family vacation on board. By contrast, the Celebrity Edge was low-key luxury; much more the way we like to vacation. The staff was professional – always around when we wanted them, but not in our faces in a fake-cheery manor when we didn’t.

The overall pool deck is quite nice with conveniently located bathrooms that are several steps above the typical pool bathroom and were well maintained. The balcony staterooms on Celebrity Edge have fantastic bathrooms. And, unlike the main cabin, they have lots of useable shelf space.

Alternatively, the paper program, Celebrity Today, is left on your bed or outside your cabin every night. Plus there are the main four restaurants (Tuscan, Cyprus, Normandie and Cosmopolitan). We could have been more adventurous, but when I travel with my kids they get to choose, and buffets are simply easier and more flexible than set seatings.

In addition to that regular schedule, you could arrange for early morning hours on port days where the ship arrived before 9 a.m. Given that ours was a very port-heavy itinerary with long port days that often started at 7 a.m., it was very handy to have this option. The club would open 30 minutes prior to port arrival if the staff was notified at least 24 hours in advance.

Most notably, they are near the pool, but they don’t actually open out into the pool area. You can’t see or access the pool directly from the cabana. So, it’s more of a designated lounge space with perks that you could visit for breaks from the pool. The first thing we noticed when walking into the kids’ club was its size and location. The club resides on one of the lowest levels of the ship – Deck 3, directly beneath the Theater (which can be convenient at pick-up time). The actual physical space for the kids’ club facilities is rather small.
